New Optical Design Software Released by Optical Engineering Firm Breault Research; ASAP 2009 V2R2 Now Available
TUCSON, Ariz.--JAN. 12, 2010--Breault Research Organization (BRO) has released a new version of the company's Advanced Systems Analysis Program (ASAPĀ®). The ASAP 2009 V2R2 release adds significant capability to the program well known to the optics industry as the most sophisticated tool available for virtual prototyping of optical systems and devices.
Industry applications for ASAP include automotive, architectural and specialty illumination design, simulation of laser systems and other coherent devices, stray light analysis of telescopes and space-based imaging systems, display modeling, complete biomedical system modeling, micro-optical device modeling, and others.
New features and enhancements in ASAP 2009 V2R2 include Geometry Shrinking, Ray Export, over 30 new LED and xenon source models added to the BRO Light Source Library, as well as other software repairs and enhancements.
ASAP 2009 V2R2 Features and Enhancements
- Geometry Shrinking - A new Shrink Geometry option allows users to remove unnecessary surface trimming information contained in imported CAD geometry files -- a proprietary process that optimizes imported system geometry for ray tracing.
- Ray Export - A new Ray Export feature, allows users to export rays in an IGES file format using the same tools for exporting optical system geometry already present in ASAP. The exported file may contain anywhere from a single ray up to the limit of the total number of rays traced.
- Light Source Library Additions - Over 30 source model additions come with the ASAP 2009 V2R2 release, including OSRAM LEDs, CREE LEDs, and HiPerVision xenon sources.
Together, these features and enhancements set a new standard for optical software capabilities available to optical engineers and designers.
ASAP users in 35 countries model and analyze the finest details of optical systems, and depend on their simulations to mirror real-world performance. ASAP analyses validate designs and support smooth transitions to manufacturing.
